In the words of Britney Spears, "oops, we did it again." Or I guess to put more accurately, we are going to do it again... Again, meaning MOVE! I know, we are completely nuts... This we already know :-) Regardless, Andy and I have decided to move our family to the Atlanta, Georgia area.
Let me rewind a bit... A few months ago I got a call from a former boss that I've known for several years and have a tremendous amount of respect for. Lucky for me, he doesn't take "no" for an answer and he kept calling me :-) Deciding to leave where I'm currently at and accepting this new offer was a very difficult decision for us for several reasons (1) I really like my current job and company (2) I work with awesome people (3) my current company has seen and supported us through the girls birth and everything that came along with it and (4) we like this area and as the kids get older it's a great place to live with so much to do.
So that brings me to why we decided to take this opportunity and why Andy is all in. Well, Andy was on board as soon as we started researching the area and discovered the cost of living is like moving to a third world country compared to here. What sealed the deal was when we discovered that most school districts in that area have full day kindergarten :-) But in all seriousness, it's an amazing opportunity for me professionally and I get to work with a few people that I know and respect. We have 4 kids, 4 potential colleges, 4 money-sucking little creatures that we have many more years to support... Each opportunity allows this to get just a little bit easier :-) I'm just fortunate to have an amazing husband who loves me, supports me in my career and takes on the more difficult day job of taking care of our kids.
I think I've heard it all regarding this move... Anything from a friend asking if our kids needed to get special vaccines to move to Georgia (that was a good one), to several comments about the new accent our kids will have. What I can tell you is that almost everyone that I've talked to either has lived there or knows someone that does and has nothing but positive things to say about the area. I can't say we heard anything positive when we moved to New Jersey :-) I'm certain Andy will fit right in with his niceness and van waving skills. And I'm certain the south will reject me as I'm much better suited to the bitchy east coast...
Our number one concern is find the kids good doctors and the girls good specialists so they can continue to get the support they need. But I've already tapped into some of my fellow triplet mommies in the Atlanta area and have contacted a few of the schools PTA leaders. Moving this time is certainly different than the past, since we've doubled our family size...
You may be wondering about Aunt Em... Her plan is to hopefully find a job in the Atlanta area and make the move with us. She's all for warmer weather and she certainly can't leave princess Stevie :-) She's got a great job now, so hopefully she will be able to find something this summer so she can make the move too!
